TCWSE Archive Dedication at TWU
Friday, April 3, 2009 — Texas Woman's University

Our archive dedication at TWU earlier this month was a great success! More than 20 members showed up to kickoff to TCWSE's 25th anniversary celebration by making TCWSE a permanent part of TWU's Woman's Collection. The collection represents a major research collection on the history of American women, and we are honored to be a part of it.

The dedication kicked off with a luncheon at Hubbard Hall, where President Priscilla White welcomed everyone, then invited Nan Restine, Dean TWU College of Professional Education to speak. After lunch, Past President Jackie Jenkins spoke to the group, sharing her memories of TCWSE.

The group then moved to the Blagg-Huey Library for the dedication. President Priscilla White expressed how important the dedication was to her, then invited several past presidents to speak. Margret Montgomery, Elizabeth Clark, Dianne Hess, and Nancy Vaughan all shared wonderful memories of TCWSE and impressed upon us all how important the council is to women across the state. Everyone headed up to the Women's Collection, where we got our first look at the TCWSE collection — it was exciting to see our publications, correspondence, and other historical documents on display.

All in all, it was a wonderful day and a very special event for TCWSE!

Extra-special thanks to Lisa Gallagher and Gallagher Construction Services! Without their support, the dedication ceremony would not have been possible. Thank you, Lisa!!

Regional Happenings

Region 4
We had our Spring Conference that was titled, “A Smart Investment” and it was a enlightening evening. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Karen Garza, Deputy Superintendent- Chief Academic Officer and spoke of the commitment we must make to each other and invest in our careers by supporting women as they move up in their careers. It was a moving speech that touch all who attended. Brian Sak from AXA discussed Market Volatility and Your Finances and another session on the Family Love Letter (prior to death what to do). During all the sessions the audience asked a multitude of questions and commented on their evaluations that this was the best because of the interaction with the presenters.
